This is my project for Think Tank advanced term
For this project, my main focus was to learn how to use vertex painting, rgb mask, decals and layerd materials, and I ended up learning even more of what I wanted. The second objective was to try to get as closea s photorealism as posible, which I'm quite happy with the end result.
My original inspiration came from this artstation post by Abrar Khan

Thanks to reddit I was able to get the exact location and with the help of google maps and street view, I was able to expand and created the hole alley.
The whole process was a nightmare, some days I hated it and some others I loved how it was going, especially with the pipes, I had to reduce a lot the original amount of pipes that were in the real-life location because it would've taken me a lot to place them by hand without a tool, and with the help of Joe Crawford, he tought me how to create a simple pcg tool that helped me placing the pipes a little bit faster, so cheers to him.
I want to thank my teacher for this term Nikhil Kedige, who was an amazing teacher with an incredible amount of knowledge. With his feedback, I was able to grow as a 3D artist.

here's a pcg and blueprint that I created for giving randomness to the AC units, following a tutorial made by Aziel Arts
some of the vertex painting blend material I created for large assets such as the buildings, so I can give them damage or dirt and not make them tile a lot
